Privacy Policy

Local-first, clear, and transparent.

Who we are

ChatKeep is operated by an independent developer. If you have questions, contact support@chatkeep.dev.

What we collect

ChatKeep does not run third-party analytics, advertising, or session-replay tracking on our website or in the extension. We do not build advertising profiles or sell your data.

When you create an account or sign in, we receive your email address (and, if provided by your sign-in method, a display name and avatar). This is used to operate your account, cloud sync, and billing. Our servers may keep basic operational logs—such as IP address and request metadata—for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.

Local data and optional cloud sync

ChatKeep is local-first by default. Your saved chats and notes stay in your browser unless you sign in, review the sync privacy notice, and turn on cloud sync.

If you opt in to cloud sync, ChatKeep uploads the chats, notes, record identifiers, timestamps, deletion markers, device identifiers, and sync metadata needed to keep your signed-in devices aligned. Synced data is associated with your ChatKeep account so the same account can read and update it across devices.

Synced data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on our servers. It is not end-to-end encrypted, which means it is technically accessible to ChatKeep’s systems in order to provide the sync service. Do not sync content you are not comfortable storing on our servers.

Turning cloud sync off stops future uploads and pulls for that account, but it does not automatically delete data that was already synced. Use the clear cloud data action to delete the cloud copy; your local browser data is not deleted by that action.

Payments

Payments are processed by Creem. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account and synced data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Operational logs are kept only as long as necessary for security and reliability. You can remove synced data at any time with the clear cloud data action, or request full account deletion (see below).

Your rights

You can request access to, or deletion of, the personal data associated with your account—including your email, subscription records, synced chats and notes, and any shared links—by contacting support@chatkeep.dev. To delete everything, request full account deletion and we will remove your account and associated data.

Changes

We will update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page.
